Scrappy Applique Class this Friday

Katie Lewis will be here for our Friday Scrappy Applique Class at the First Christian Church at 711 E. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall which is in front of you behind the playground.  Plan to be there by 9:30am so that you have time to set up your workstation before class starts at 10:00 am.  Class will run until 3:00pm.  Please bring your supplies as detailed in the student supply list. (if you need another copy, please let me know). Check that your sewing machine is in working order and you have an iron and ironing mat. We will have both available . Also please wear your name tag, bring water and a lunch.

Pillowcase project

Hi, all! Hope you are having a a beautiful day. Frances and I wanted to let you know that the center at Lake Mayer is open and we will be meeting this Friday March 1, and next Friday, March 8 to work on pillowcase kits and to sew pillowcases. Also, if anyone wants to donate fabric, it would be gratefully accepted. We need 100 percent cotton fabric, 44″ wide and at least 27″ long. Thanks for your help. Frances and Debbie

February Modern Bee Reminder

Just a note to remind you that the modern Bee will be meeting this Wednesday February 21 1-4 at the Talahi Island Community Center (532 Quarterman Dr.). Everyone invited.

We will be continuing on our track of designing improv quilts.  This workshop will be based on the work of Cindy Grisdella and her “Blue Puzzle” quilt. Bring the following supplies:

  1. A sewing machine and standard sewing supplies (including a ruler 6 1/2″ or larger and a rotary cutter); and
  2. Fabric of your choice which may be based on multi-colored scraps or a palette of coordinated colors.

Also bring along your work from past meetings, either finished or in progress for others to see. If you’ve come across interesting things on modern quilting, bring that along as well.

See you Wednesday. Remember there’s a $3 fee for use of the building.
