Oct 18th – Weekend Warriors Sewing

Hi fellow quilters.

As a reminder, the Weekend Warriors will meet on October 18th at its new location at the Epiphany Church (formerly St Michael’s) located at the corner of Waters Avenue and Washington Avenue next to Daffin Park.

It is best to park on Washington Avenue and enter the little courtyard to access the community room at the back door. The community room is lovely with excellent lighting and lots of space for us to spread out.

We will meet from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. We have a little kitchen available to heat up some lunch or make some coffee.

This sewing event is open to everyone to work on any project may it be quilting, knitting, crocheting, or needle point.

We are setting up tables just before 10 so it would be great know how many of you will join that days so let us know by either reaching out to Regina Harris or Karen Hayes.

If you bring your sewing machine, remember to bring an extension cord.

Knot Just a Pouch October Workshop Reminder

All,

Just a reminder that we will have the Knot Just a Pouch workshop after the Guild meeting on Saturday.

If you did not get a kit I will have extra on hand for new sign ups and anyone who did not get one in September. Please bring any additional fabrics you want to include from your stash along with a fat quarter to use for lining. I will have some extra fabrics on hand in case.

Below is also a reminder of what to bring.

Supplies to Bring

  1. Sewing Machine – don’t forget your power cord, pedal, and (if you have one) an extension cord.
  2. Neutral Thread – something you’re happy to use for piecing and topstitching.
  3. Scissors – for trimming.
  4. Rotary Cutter & Small Mat – handy for squaring things up.
  5. Ruler – to cut your panels to 10 ½” x 6 ½”.
  6. Zipper Foot – helpful but not required. If you normally sew with a straight-stitch plate, swap it for your standard plate so you can move your needle position.
  7. Marking Tools – bring whatever you prefer (chalk pencil, fabric marker, painter’s tape, etc.) for quilting lines or guides or freestyle it.  The choice is yours.
  8. Fresh Needle – no special type needed, but a new one makes everything sew smoother.

We’ll have irons available in class. If you love having your own small iron and mat at your station, feel free to bring them along.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly and I am happy to help: mgsengstack@msn.com

Saturday’s guild meeting will be in a different building….please read

Our meeting and workshop will be at Southside Baptist Church but we will be in a different building. Please park in the lot to left of the church (the entrance closest to DeRenne Avenue) and look for the covered entrance. There will be signs to guide you to the Old Chapel. If you are taking the workshop you can leave your sewing machine and supplies in the classroom off of the welcome area.

There will be signup sheets for the December Luncheon and for the Fall 2026 Retreat. Don’t forget your Name tag and if you took the vest workshop bring your finished vest for us all to admire.  See you Saturday!!
