Laura Brown’s daughter, Kacie Campbell, has asked me to share the following information with our guild members.

Laura was a member of our guild for many years and a very talented quilter. Her daughter is selling the items in Laura’s sewing studio—-lots of fabric, tools, books, notions, etc….  Kacie does not have set prices but is trusting that buyers will make reasonable offers (while still paying less than they would normally pay) in an attempt to pay down debts and find good homes for the items.

You can contact Kacie at 678-491-1769 to set up a time to take a look at the sewing/quilting items.

EXCLUSIVE WORKSHOP “Beach Love” is a mini mosaic 8″x10″ canvas art.  There is no sewing, so it’s fun for both sewists and non-sewists alike. It’s a virtual 3 hour workshop using Zoom.  The  workshop fee ($40) includes the class and the complete kit and shipping in the US.  You can choose to use one component or all three.  You can decorate the canvas or leave it plain.  In class I will go over how to create the mosaics, words, decorating the canvas and attaching it to the canvas. The kit includes the canvas, pattern, cut up fabric and SAS. There is an Admin from Junto Space who will help you if there are any technology issues.  We’ll be using breakout rooms to make the class more intimate.You can get to meet new friends and be able to ask lots of questions! “Beach Love” will only be offerred in this virtual workshop for 2020. The Presidents Challenge has been posted to our webpage. The details can be found under the Members Tab in the Guild Documents, Handouts and Links section. There is also a folder with some of my photos and some photos from the web that will hopefully give you some ideas of your own for making your Photo to Fabric challenge quilt. The quilts will be shared at our September Guild Meeting. Hope you have fun with this!!!

Good morning ladies!

Our regularly scheduled meeting will not be happening tomorrow…… at least, not in person.  The program we had planned for you was Virtual Sewing Studios.  Several of our members responded to my call for photos of their sewing rooms.   Thanks to the miracle of modern technology you are still going to be able to enjoy the slideshow of these beautiful studios.  Better yet, you can pause the show any time you wish, to take a closer look.

The presentation will be available (tomorrow morning) and you can find it under the Members tab on the website–Savannah Quilt Guild April Program.

If you are like me you have been missing Show and Tell.  Let’s try to remedy that. Put on your best pajamas (aka COVID19 apparel) and take a picture of you and your latest project(s). Send the pics to me at theresasapp@aol.com and I will put them together in the Picture Gallery for everyone to enjoy.  I will send everyone an email when the folder is ready to share.  Let’s fill it with beautiful quilts, small projects and, yes, even face mask photos!!!! We have two months of Show and Tell to catch up on!

I have received information about two local organizations requesting face masks…. Please respond to this message if you are able to help.

From Judy S.-Hospice of Savannah would like to be able to give each of their (93) home care nurses at least 10 masks a piece.  The masks may be dropped at the rear entrance where a staff member is taking temps. If no one is there, knock on the back door.  Call Melissa Gayle @ (mobile) (912)314-1192 or (office) (912)629-1074 for more information.

From Julie D.-Magnolia Manor (retirement/assisted living) in Richmond Hill needs 30 masks ASAP.  They can be dropped or Julie can pick them up.

I am sure there are other local needs in the Savannah area. If you know of any, please post them here on our website.

BTW-Judy had a tip for making ear loops…cut up old socks or tights to obtain stretchy circles.
