Scrappy Applique Class this Friday

Katie Lewis will be here for our Friday Scrappy Applique Class at the First Christian Church at 711 E. Victory Drive, Savannah.  Parking is accessed by turning right onto Paulsen Ave off Victory and then a right into the lane that runs behind the church.  Turn right into the parking lot. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall which is in front of you behind the playground.  Plan to be there by 9:30am so that you have time to set up your workstation before class starts at 10:00 am.  Class will run until 3:00pm.  Please bring your supplies as detailed in the student supply list. (if you need another copy, please let me know). Check that your sewing machine is in working order and you have an iron and ironing mat. We will have both available . Also please wear your name tag, bring water and a lunch.

Scrappy Applique Class – March 8

Registration is now open for the Scrappy Applique Class on Friday March 8 from 10am to 3pm.  Please note the location will be at the First Christian Church at 711 E. Victory Drive, Savannah.  Parking is accessed from the lane behind the Fellowship Building.  We recommend that you arrive at 9:30 to have time to set up your workstation.

Katie is bringing patterns with her.  They include the Wild Animal collection (bear, lion, giraffe and deer), Science and Fiction (kraken/octopus, dinosaur, phases of the moon and robot), US Skylines (Seattle, NYC, St. Louis, San Francisco and Austin), World Skylines (Paris, Cairo, London and Sydney) and Canadian Skylines (Toronto, Ottawa , Calgary and Vancouver). All these will be available for purchase.  Or you can go online (www.katielewisquilting.com/shop-patterns).  If you purchase on line be sure to download and print your pattern.

I have the class supply list for those who did not pick one up on Saturday. There are spaces available!  You can register by dropping a check for the $75 nonrefundable registration fee to Jan Howard, PO Box 31051, Savanah 31410, Venmo or Zelle. We will continue registering at our February Guild Meeting.

Looking for interest in hosting Katie Lewis

Katie Lewis is our instructor for our March class in Scrappy Applique. She is driving in from Columbia, SC on Thursday, March 7, teaching the class on Friday and then presenting a program on Saturday, the 9th before driving home.  She is open to stay with a guild member in a smoke-free home with a private bathroom.  If you are interested please give me a call this weekend (Jan 5-7).  If not we will arrange a hotel stay for her.

A heads up in March we will meet at the First Christian Church, 711 E Victory Drive for both the class and our Saturday meeting.  We met there last year and had a wonderful time.  Thank you to Ruth Rodriquez and her husband, Rev.Tom Rodriquez, for making the fellowship hall available to us.

Registration for Katie’s class will begin next Saturday (Jan. 13) at our guild meeting.  Registration fee is $75 (non-refundable).  Class size is set at 20.  Join Mary Bell and me as we explore happy scrapping.  Judy Walker

Reimagined Dresden Block Class – This Friday 10am to 4pm

Get your fabrics out and join us for Candyce Grisham’s Reimagined Dresden Quilt Block Class this Friday at the Southside Baptist Church.  Please arrive at 9:30 so that you will have time to set up your sewing station and meet your fellow classmates.  Wear your name tag so we can put names to faces.  We have a member from South Carolina Quilt Guild joining us so please be sure to make her feel welcomed.  You should also plan to bring water, snacks and a lunch.

If you need a copy of the student supply list, drop me an email or text me and I will get it off to you.  Candyce is bringing her book and rulers for sale both on Friday and Saturday.

We ask that you help with the clean up at the end of class.  We need to pack up all our personal supplies and the guild’s supplies (power chords, irons and ironing table, cutting mat, etc) As well as putting the chairs and tables back in place. It takes a village to have a good time! Enjoy your day with Candyce.

How to register your quilt(s) for the Georia National Fair

To register your quilt (s)

  1. Go to georgianationalfair.com
  2. Select Georgia Living on the top bar
  3. Select Home Arts & Fine Arts
  4. Scroll down to Competition – 2023 Quilts on right hand column
  5. Open 2023 Quilts
    1. Print and read carefully the directions on how to enter your quilt.
  6. Return to Home Arts & Fine Arts page
  7. Scroll down the page to Video “Step by Step Pictorial Tutorial”
  8. Once you have all the information you need to register your quilt
    1. Click on Online Entries and work your way through the fields.
    2. Print two copies of the completed registration
      1. One will go with your quilt in the pillowcase
      2. The second, pinned to the pillowcase will go to Lanette
    3. Pillowcase should be marked with the quilt’s name, your name and Lanette’s name

Delivery your quilt (s) to Lanette before Thursday September 7th
