Wanda has been put on a ventilator but the prognosis is not good. Wanda’s family has to make the decision to leave her on the ventilator or take her off. They would like our quilt guild members to know about wanda for their support and prayers.

Wanda Lucas was admitted to the hospital on Monday and has taking a turn for the worse this morning. She has had a stroke and is in critical condition. Send her your hugs and keep her in your thoughts.

Quilts by Ronnie Durrence
Some of you may have known Ronnie Durrence, a quilter, in Savannah who died in 1998. I was told about him a while ago and was surprised when a neighbor called and asked if I would like to see some of the quilts that he had made for her family. Two were wedding gifts for her children and two were ones that they purchased from him. His mom was a quilter and he developed a love of quilting. These quilts are hand quilted and I took close ups of the backs so that you can (hopefully) see it.

This is the best video that I have found. I’ve tried the elastic straps and find that they are too person specific. Ties allow for any size to wear. I made my own folded over strips made like bias tape by using 2″ strips the width of the fabric. I like to put the ties on the sides, after basting the raw edge pleats in and sewing the top and bottom seams and inserting the wire. I’m using a coated wire and bending in the ends too. The wire is very helpful in keeping the mask in place.
I need to make 100 to send to our daughter who is an RN in Grand Junction, Colorado and in charge of 24 home health nurses that don’t have enough masks. They are rationing them now to suspected cases. I’m sure that there are needs here, but if anyone wants to help make this kind of masks and donate them to Shelley, give me a text or call. 912-755-9407
