Project Linus “Cutting party” Thursday at Lake Mayer

If you’d like to prep some quilt kits for the next Project Linus Sew Day, come to Lake Mayer’s community center this Thursday, January 29 from 12:30 – 3:30.

Fabric, patterns, and bags are provided, as well as two cutting mats. Consider bringing your own cutting mats and rulers if you want to use your own equipment.

If you want to de-clutter your fabric stash, feel free to bring some of your fabric too!

(reminder as you cut patterns, to also provide fabric for quilt backing and 2 1/2″ binding)

Thank you all for your support, and to Judy King for her help in organizing the event!

Come to the PARC for the new Linus Fleece Blanket Crocheting Group

Hi, Quilters and I hope Crocheters,

The PARC has generously offered us a room for a new group of Linus crocheters.  The first meeting will be held Thursday, the 29th of January at 1:00 pm.  Future meetings will be held on the 4th Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm.

This first meeting we will discuss our plans going forward, check out the tools for creating fleece crocheted blankets and go over the process of two rows of crocheting.  If you are a crocheting pro or a beginner and have a passion for making kids warm and cozy, please come join us.  Just email me at the email address below.

The PARC is located at 425 Pennsylvania Avenue, 912-651-4211.

Thanks,

Help needed: Quilt kits for Project Linus

Hello, guild members!

This is Ellie, the coordinator for Project Linus of Savannah. I recently received a wonderful donation of fabric which I would like to cut into quilt kits for an upcoming Sew Day. I need a volunteer or two who can assemble quilt kits consisting of cut fabric blocks, 2 1/2″ binding strips, and backing fabric.

All fabric and quilt patterns are provided. I use patterns designed by Villa Rosa, which are easy to prepare and beginner friendly. I will also provide baggies for the quilt kits.

I’m not in a hurry, either. I haven’t scheduled the next Sew Day, but it will likely be hosted by the Quilt Guild and be held sometime this summer. Stay tuned!

If you’d like to help out, email me at elliegrix@gmail.com, or you can call/text 573-631-2571.

Thank you all for your support!

Ellie

P.S. If you’re new to the guild and want to learn more about Project Linus, you can find me on Facebook or Instagram @ProjectLinusSAV and learn more about donation requirements here: https://mailchi.mp/9f4a1cd301bf/project-linus-of-savannah-and-hilton-head

January 2026 Modern Bee Meeting

The Modern Bee will once again be meeting in person next Wednesday Jan. 21 at the Talahi Island Community Center 532 Quarterman Road from 1-4

The first thing we’ll be doing is sharing our circle quilts, whatever shape they’re in. This was a challenge from last year. If you don’t have a circle quilt, don’t worry. Just come along and join the fun.

Next, we’ll be starting a new challenge — the modern traditionalism quilt.  We won’t be sewing yet. First, we’re going to explore what these quilts are like by examining them and getting ideas. Then we’ll start planning our own quilts (if all goes well). If you’d like, bring along some fabric you love that you think might fit into these new quilts.

If you have a quilt that you think fits into modern traditionalism, bring it along to share.

We’re welcoming anyone who’s interested in modern quilting, especially the new quild members. See you next Wednesday.

P.S. Don’t forget there’s a $3 fee to cover room rental.
